Turn, Turn, Turn… Trusting in the Wait

Have you ever felt like something you read or heard was exactly what you needed?
I was at a funeral last week, and I was reminded of the 1965 song by the Byrds, “Turn! Turn! Turn!”
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep
Recently, I’ve been struggling with my desire for certain aspects of my life to progress more quickly. When I heard the lyrics based on the Bible verses Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, it hit me: there is a time for everything. We experience both highs and lows, but sometimes we also have to walk through the valleys.
Last weekend, when I was talking to my mom, I told her I just don’t understand why I haven’t achieved some of my goals yet. She shared a story from years ago, when she applied for a position and was really disappointed not to get it. Soon after, she was offered another role that shaped her career! It was what she was meant to do, but she had to wait for it. She reminded me that even if things don’t move as quickly as we want, what is meant to happen will happen.
Trusting the timing of our lives is simply about that… TRUST. It will happen in its own time. But there is a time for everything, and it requires faith to remember that. It all comes down to trusting in divine timing. And of course, to keep going in the good and bad times.
Lately, this idea of seasons has shown up in my everyday parenting, too. This month, many of my social media posts focus on navigating summer break with kids at home. In just one summer day, you can experience the highs of seeing your children smile and enjoy their best summer moments, only to face a total meltdown a few minutes later. Summer brings more challenges for us as parents with longer, busier, less structured days. I often feel exhausted at the end of the day, but I also recognize it’s just a season. Remember those encouraging words of The Byrds, "Turn! Turn! Turn!"
This means fall is coming soon, and we'll return to our usual school routine. As for my career goals, I’ll keep working, planting, and trusting in God to guide me.

Wishing you a time of love and faith in all that is to come.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
